World Humanitarian Day: UN announces '#NotATarget' campaign for worldwide participation to protect all civilians caught in conflicts
The UN has announced its campaign '#NotATarget' for the World Humanitarian Day (WHD) to be observed on 19th August 'to pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and to rally support for people affected by crises around the world.'

The campaign aims to bring attention to the millions of civilians affected by armed conflict every day and have to struggle to find food, water, and safe shelter, while fighting drives millions from their homes as well as people with disabilities, elderly, migrants, and journalists - all civilians caught in conflict need to be protected, informs the UN website.

The heightened concern is about the children being recruited and used to fight, and their schools getting destroyed. Also, women are being abused and humiliated during conflicts alarmingly.

"As humanitarian workers deliver aid, and medical workers treat the wounded and sick, they are directly targeted, treated as threats, and prevented from bringing relief and care to those in desperate need," laments the UN.

The UN has urged people across the world to be feel concerned towards 'all those affected by conflict around the world and 'join the #NotATarget movement and demand world leaders to do everything in their power to protect all civilians in conflict.’
