Move comes at a time when austerity-drive continues for government-functioning. At a time when government is not in a position to provide proper medical facilities to common citizens even in India, such a discriminatory favour for just about 10000 government-officers out of lakhs of total government-employees in the country is not proper. Need was there rather to abolish such existing princely facility for those including in legislative-system.

Moreover, India has already become a medical-hub for foreigners with many foreigners coming to India for medical-treatment and post-medical resting because of India having quite cheaper such facilities as compared to foreign countries.

India now should be proud of having a number of super-specialty hospitals in public and private sectors where every type of medical-facility is available. People avail costly medical-facilities without paying any amount if they have cashless mediclaim policies.

Union government should instead insist government-employees and others on taking such mediclaim policies for their families where premium for these policies is exempted from Income-Tax.

Rather it should be made compulsory for all those getting medical-facilities at government-expense to take such mediclaim policies from public-sector insurance-companies to further save government-costs on expenses of medical-facilities. If deemed fit, a part of insurance-premium can be paid by the government.
