In a sensational development, a married woman has reportedly filed a sexual harassment case against Minister of State (Rail) Rajen Gohain. Based on her complaint the Nagaon Police have registered a case against the Central minister under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 376 (rape).
Shankarbrata Raymedhi, SP, Nagaon, on Friday, told
the media that the victim had filed her complaint on August 2, 2018.
Accordingly, the police filed an FIR and recorded her statement under section
166 of the CrPc, informed the SP. He hinted that the minister would be
questioned in connection with the case. However, according to an unconfirmed
report the victim has requested the police to repeal the case, just two days after
filing of the case.

member and minister Gohain, who has won from the Nagon Lok Sabha constituency
five times consecutively, has, reportedly, dismissed the allegation, terming it
as a conspiracy against him. Nabarun Gohain, the ministers son has lodged a
complaint against the victims husband, alleging that the couple has been
trying to blackmail his father. Based on his complaint the police have
registered another case, revealed SP Raymedhi.
As soon as the sexual harassment allegation against the minister came to light, protests started to erupt. Some local organisations, on Saturday, staged protest at the Nagaon town around 75 km away from Assams capital city Guwahati, demanding police action
against the minister.
