Pizza Perfect - a new TV series which searches for the perfect slice of pizza across the globe
The world can have its Instagram photo obsessed foodies, taking perfectly manicured photos of aesthetic perfection; Alex Scrymgeour has a love affair with pizza.

It’s not that he feels pizza lacks a physical charm in its presentation (he’s adamant that it does), but the feelings and taste that only pizza can manifest are paramount for him. He was so enamoured with it and the story behind truly great pizza that he created the world’s first pizza travel show Pizza Perfect.

For this production, Scrymgeour traversed numerous locations to reveal the essence of both the modern and traditional components of truly great pizza. After viewing Pizza Perfect it’s certain that one can never view the fast-food/American version of pizza the same way. Bearing witness to the divine nature of this all too commonly misrepresented cuisine gift from Italy to the world, Pizza Perfect proselytizes all who witness its truth.

While pizza itself is accessible nearly everywhere on the planet, Pizza Perfect is much more exclusive. The initial offering from the show’s first season was only available privately on YouTube to potential broadcasters and distributors. Combining food, history, and travel, Pizza Perfect is a global adventure which takes the audience around the world in search of the perfect slice. In season one this includes: Rome (Italy), Athens (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey), Barcelona (Spain), Los Angeles (USA), and Montreal (Canada).

The premier episode features host (as well as producer and director) Alex Scrymgeour in the appropriate location to launch his investigation, Rome. Because Pizza Perfect infuses gustatory perception with the context of history and location, there is no more fitting beginning for this journey.

Scrymgeour comments, “Seeing the rich history, friendly people, and vibrant culture of Rome is one of the greatest tourism experiences for anyone. The food in Rome was exquisite but the highlight for me was learning about Roman pizza; Al Taglio. In my opinion, the Roman Al Taglio pizza is the tastiest pizza on earth and is a must try for all pizza lovers. Every single ingredient is completely fresh and the combinations offer nearly limitless possibilities. It’s somewhat impossible to communicate completely until you try it, which is why I wanted viewers of the show to see my experience. Pizza Perfect is about the romance of incredible cities and the unique experiences they can offer. Pizza is something we can all relate to and use as a touch stone to comfortably seek out the differences which the world offers us.”

Much of the charm of Pizza Perfect is found in its relatability. Rather than being a sanitized overly controlled production, the reality of the show’s host being seen in other countries and struggling with languages he is not fluent in while finding a connective element in the pursuit of this ubiquitous cuisine…it’s a scenario almost everyone can imagine themselves in.

More than anything, Pizza Perfect is about heart and passion. It’s a story of stepping outside one’s comfort sphere to find what really moves you in life and question what you’ve always known. The secret of Pizza Perfect won’t be hidden for long as the show recently obtained worldwide distribution through Espresso Media. Once it airs, you’re likely to discover a great deal about pizza and yourself.
